Youth Achievement - Jessie Loutit

Jessie Loutit: High Performance Athlete Grant Recipient

Jessie Loutit is a fourth year University of Calgary student and high performance rower with the Calgary Rowing Club. She’s spending a semester in New Zealand to train and compete with the West End Rowing Club in Auckland to refine her skills and improve her chances on the national rowing scene for next summer.

Jessie’s background in sport includes soccer and a variety of other sports.  She has played and coached at the North American Indigenous Games and was the flag bearer for Team NWT at the 2005 Canada Summer Games in Regina.  She has also lead a variety of sport development camps in numerous NWT communities.

When she's not competing athletically, Jessie is reaching for the stars academically. From winning math and science awards in Fort Simpson to taking three University courses by correspondence while she trains in New Zealand, education has always been important to her.
